Housing Advocates Worry City Isn't Keeping Track of Developments (City Limits)

Two years ago, City Council approved the rezoning of East New York to provide affordable housing units for low- and moderate-income families. The Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) has since then attempted to engage property owners to work with the city in order to subsidize housing costs for these units. However, housing advocates are worried that while the department has remained transparent in their operations, HPD is unaware of developments that are being constructed within the neighborhood that could impact the affordability of these homes.
