Free estate planning help for New York homeowners, families, and other loved ones — no matter what your household looks like.

Do you own a home — or live in a family home?

You work hard for your home. But if you don’t make a plan, your home could be lost after you’re gone. We can help you protect it — for free. Whether you live alone, with family, or with those you care about.

What is estate planning?

Estate planning means making a plan for what happens to your home, belongings, and other assets if you get sick or pass away. It can include a:

You can even get help with deed and title issues or going to court after someone passes.

Even if you live alone …

You may want your home to go to someone you love and trust or even a charity. We’ll help you make that plan.

Why this matters

When there is no plan in place, problems can happen:

Estate planning helps avoid these problems and keeps your home safe.

We can help — and in many cases, it’s free

You don’t need a lot of money to protect your home. We work with trusted lawyers and housing counselors across New York State. In many cases, their help is free.
We support everyone:

What if the home is already in trouble?

Sometimes, a home with no clear owner is already at risk of foreclosure or someone else stealing it. We can still help with:

Heirs’ Property

If the home was passed down without a will, and the deed still lists a family member who has passed, this is called heirs' property. We can help fix the paperwork.

Deed Theft

Scammers may try to steal a home by forging paperwork or lying to family members. If something seems wrong, we can help.

Partition Scams

If your family inherited a home together and are not on the deed, a scammer may try to get on title and force a sale or may already be on a deed. Learn how to stop this from happening and protect yourself.
