The New York City lien sale is now scheduled for Monday, June 3 — which means the last day to act is Sunday, June 2. If your property is on the list, you could lose your home over unpaid property taxes or water bills.
Key Updates for Homeowners
- You may still be eligible to get off the lien sale list through programs like Easy Exit. Download the application (PDF) from the NYC Department of Finance.
- There are tax exemptions that can remove your property from the lien list. Visit the NYC Department of Finance (DOF) lien sale page for more information.
- DOF Business Centers are open for walk-in appointments Monday through Friday, 8 am-5 pm.
- You can establish a payment plan to resolve your lien debt.
- Free legal and housing help is available — even if the property is involved in deed theft, other scams, or tangled title. Visit homeownerhelpny.org/tax-liens or call 311 and ask for the Center for NYC Neighborhoods.
