Attorney General Extends Commitment to Homeowner Protection Program

On Monday, New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman announced his office’s commitment to an additional $40 million in funding to extend the Homeowner Protection Program for an additional two years beyond his office’s initial three-year commitment.

The Homeowner Protection Program is a statewide network of 89 housing counseling and legal services agencies that provide home-saving foreclosure prevention services to homeowners, free of charge.

To date, the Homeowner Protection Program has worked with 34,000 homeowners across the state. The Center applauds the Attorney General for his continued support for the program. We would also like to thank the housing counselors and legal services providers whose commitment to assisting homeowners is key to making the program a success.

Homeowners can be connected to the Homeowner Protection Program by calling the Homeowner Hotline at 855-HOME-456 (855-466-3456).
