With the killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery, we are again witnessing the violent truth of systemic racism. Their deaths, and the fact that many more go unacknowledged, are an affront to our values and beliefs. Our work is centered on building communities and strengthening neighborhoods. We strive to combat historic injustices brought about by racist policies and practices, such as redlining and predatory lending, and ideologies that have excluded people from the benefits of homeownership and intergenerational asset-building. We seek to change the systems that have upheld and perpetuated racial discrimination, violence, and injustice. We stand in solidarity with Black activists and organizers across New York City and the nation seeking justice in the killings of Black Americans by police officers.
