Yesterday, the Center for NYC Neighborhoods was honored to join New York State Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman to announce the launch of a new web app, AGScamHelp. AGScamHelp was designed to inform and protect New York homeowners from foreclosure rescue scams. Visit AGScamHelp.com to search companies and see if they are government-vetted, get connected to trustworthy help, report a suspected scam, and get tips on how to identify a scam.
As part of the new initiative, the Attorney General’s Office will send monthly mailings to New York homeowners at risk of foreclosure with tips on avoiding foreclosure rescue scams. The outreach effort to warn homeowners about these scams – while informing them of the free, high-quality services available through the Attorney General’s Homeowner Protection Program – will also leverage increased marketing, public service announcements, and grassroots outreach efforts in communities that have been particularly hard-hit by the foreclosure rescue scam epidemic.
